Client Brief: ‘ We love to entertain friends and family and have a keen interest in biodiversity and creating a garden which is good for us and nature. The garden has difficult changes in level and we don’t know how to make the garden work for us.’
Site: 12mx25m (300sqm) rear garden. Overgrown with lawn and shrubs. Changes in height across the garden.
Design Concept: The garden design celebrates the concept of "Unity in Diversity," seamlessly blending the Gothic revival home with a variety of functional and ecological spaces. The design harmonizes the house and garden through the use of quality materials and bespoke craftsmanship, creating a unified, calming, and intimate environment.

The Masterplan
A central sunken entertainment terrace is immersed in terraced perennial planting creating a feeling of enclosure and seclusion. Trees and hedging compartmentalise the once open garden to create distinct spaces with specific functions. A garden which complements the Grade II listed

Immersive Central Terrace
Accessible from the new extension, this central entertaining courtyard offers a place to entertain and relax whilst being immersed in planting and nature. The terrace makes the most of the aspect and day-round sunshine.

Ecological Focus
The design incorporates compost bins, bug and bee hotels, bird boxes, and rainwater harvesting, contributing to the garden's rich biodiversity. The central feature is a sunken Heath grey Yorkstone terrace, perfect for dining and entertaining, surrounded by pollinator-friendly borders that offer year-round interest.
